Diavik supports Yellowknife Community Foundation

Diavik Diamond Mines Inc., operator of the Diavik Diamond Mine, is pleased to have participated in the Yellowknife Community Foundation's successful charity event.

The foundation's Forever in our Hearts Valentine's Gala, held Saturday February 13 at the Explorer Hotel in Yellowknife, raised $65,000. Proceeds from the event will go to fund various foundation charitable initiatives.

The Yellowknife Community Foundation, formed in 1993 to support community projects, administers some 16 local grant and scholarship funds. For more information on the foundation, visit their website at www.yellowknifecommunityfoundation.ca.

Numerous items were auctioned at the event including a bear carving donated by the Ashoona family. Artist Joe Ashoona created the piece of art from kimberlite rock donated by Diavik. As well, Diavik donated a 1.19 cushion cut diamond.

"Diavik has a history of supporting community projects and local fundraising initiatives which improve our communities. We are extremely gratified to have participated in this event and I would like to thank everyone who partnered to make the event so successful, from the organizers, to the volunteers, to those firms that donated items, to all who attended," said Diavik Director Community and Corporate Affairs Pat McCloskey.
